Update on Winter Conditions: Penetanguishene declares Significant Weather Event

Update on Significant Weather Event – January 7, 2026

The Town of Penetanguishene would like to inform residents that the Significant Weather Event declared on Sunday, December 28, 2025, is now complete.

Our winter maintenance crews have worked tirelessly throughout the event, hauling over 350 tonnes of snow and continuing to plow roads to ensure safe travel.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to our residents for their patience and cooperation during this challenging weather, and a special thank you to our dedicated roads staff for their hard work and commitment to keeping our community safe.

The Town of Penetanguishene would like to remind residents that our winter maintenance crews have been working around the clock to clear roads and ensure safe travel during ongoing winter conditions.

Roads are cleared based on their classification, which means some lower-priority roads may take longer to complete. We appreciate your patience as we continue these efforts.

Please remember that placing or pushing snow onto roadways is prohibited, as it creates dangerous conditions and slows down snow removal operations. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep our community safe.

Penetanguishene Town Hall remains closed for the holidays until Monday January 5, 2026. For after-hour emergencies related to water, sewer, or roads, please call 1-888-921-1258.
