Notice of Public Meeting: Proposed Amendments to the Town’s Building By-law

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Penetanguishene will hold a public meeting on the dates and times listed below in order to consider proposed amendments to the Town’s Building By-law, being By-laws to Regulate Construction, Demolition, and Change of Use Permits for Buildings, Structures, and All Other Related Services.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT – The Towns of Penetanguishene and Midland have jointly provided Ontario Building Code (OBC) enforcement and administration since 2015. As part of the harmonization of OBC enforcement and administration the Town of Penetanguishene is proposing to amend the By-law and replace it with a new By-law and Schedule of Fees respecting the harmonization of permit fees in the Town. The proposed amendment follows a review of the building permit fees under Section 7(b) of the Building Code Act. The effect will be to modify the Administrative Fees and Services Schedules of the By-law. Information will be provided at the meeting on the estimated costs of enforcing and administering the Building Code Act, the amount of the proposed fee(s) and the rationale for changing (and/or imposing) fees.

ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and/or make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed fees.
