Notice of Gateway Reconstruction: July 10, 2023

The Town of Penetanguishene is pleased to announce the formal reconstruction of the Town's gateway starting the week of July 10th, 2023. The project is expected to be completed within 6 weeks.

The project includes the relocation of the historic angel monuments and formal gateway from the intersection of Main Street and Thompson's Road to the true municipal border. The project will modernize the gateway, include a new Town entrance sign, improve pedestrian access, and re-establish the angels as providing that ‘sense of arrival’ to Penetanguishene.

During the construction period, there may be traffic disruptions and lane reductions on County Road 93. Traffic flow may be restricted to one lane in each direction at times.  Drivers should remain vigilant when traveling through construction zones and use extra caution when entering or exiting driveways in the surrounding area.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause and thank residents for their patience and cooperation during the construction process. For more information on the project, please contact the Town contact below.

This project has been made possible in part by the Government of Canada.
