Notice of Adopting Official Plan Amendment

 

The Council of the Corporation of the Town of Penetanguishene passed By-law 2026-26 on June 10, 2026, adopting Official Plan Amendment (OPA) No. 2 (File No. OPA-2022-01) to the Town of Penetanguishene Official Plan (2018).

In making its decision, Council considered all written and oral submissions received, as outlined in Staff Recommendation Reports PL-2026-11 and PL-2026-20. By-law 2026-26 (Official Plan Amendment No. 2), which implements the Town Dock Secondary Plan and Master Plan, is available for review online.

The County of Simcoe is the approval authority for this amendment. Any person or public body may request notice of the County’s decision by submitting a written request to:

DESCRIPTION OF THE OFFICIAL PLAN AMENDMENT

Official Plan Amendment No. 2 establishes a long-term vision for the revitalization and redevelopment of the Town Dock lands through a Secondary Plan.

The plan provides direction for future development, including buildings, public spaces, and natural areas. Its goal is to create an inclusive, year-round waterfront destination that celebrates Penetanguishene’s history and culture while supporting community life and the local economy.
