Immediate Fire Ban in Effect for Penetanguishene and Midland

June 6, 2023, Midland ON) An immediate fire ban has been declared by the Director of Emergency Services/Fire Chief for the Towns Penetanguishene and Midland.  As of 12 noon, June 6, 2023, no fires are permitted for any reason.

“Due to ongoing weather and ground conditions the Fire Danger ratings in both communities have moved to Extreme with a full fire ban in effect,” said joint Director of Emergency Services/Fire Chief Richard Renaud.  “In the interest of public safety and the protection of property and the environment, no open-air burning is permitted for any reason until the fire bans are lifted and danger ratings return to Moderate.”

Both communities will continue to issue fire permits and advise purchasers that no open-air burning is permitted at this time. Fireworks are also prohibited.
