Hydro One completing work to increase reliability in Penetanguishene and the surrounding area

Hydro One is advising residents in Penetanguishene and the surrounding areas of a planned power outage on September 25, 2022 for crews to safely perform critical work at our Waubaushene Transmission Station that will increase the safety and reliability of power to the area.

The power outage will take place on Sunday, September 25 from 4 to 8 a.m. and affect approximately 8,680 Hydro One customers in Tiny and the surrounding area including Beausoleil First Nation as well as approximately 5,400 Alectra Utilities customers in Penetanguishene and 7,600 Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution customers in Midland.

We understand how difficult it is to be without power and thank customers for their patience while we perform this critical work to improve future reliability.

Below are some tips to help you and your family during an outage:

  • Make sure your appliances, such as the stove, are in the off position.
  • Make sure your cellphone and devices are fully charged.
  • Use a battery-powered alarm clock or cellphone to ensure you do not miss any Sunday morning alarms due to clocks resetting.
  • Keep your refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible.

Affected Hydro One customers have been notified via auto-dialer and can visit Hydro One’s outage map or call 1-888-664-9376 for more information.
