From the Desk of Mayor Rawson & Council #14

I want to start off by thanking everyone who has contributed to our vibrant community over the summer. From the lively Bayside Soiree gatherings on Friday nights to the unforgettable Canada Day Celebrations, followed by the spectacular fireworks show and the tremendous ‘All Things Canadian’ family event at Memorial Park – a huge round of applause, appreciation, and respect to all the volunteers, staff, and community members who made these events possible. None of this would have been possible without the countless hours of planning and organization put in by our staff and dedicated volunteers, and for that, we are truly grateful.

And the fun doesn't stop here! There are still plenty of exciting events and activities to enjoy throughout the summer. So, I encourage you all to get out and make the most of everything our community has to offer.

Just last week, on August 1st, we proudly celebrated our inaugural Penetanguishene Day. I hope many of you had the opportunity to share this special day with family and friends, exploring the richness of our community, from our beautiful parks and recreational assets to our places of learning at the museum and library, or simply reconnecting with old friends. In fact, our Council designated and proclaimed August 1st as Penetanguishene Day, and we are determined to build upon its success, seeking support from our provincial and federal counterparts to establish it as a provincial and federal day as well.

Recently, our staff have been hard at work preparing several planning documents, and we value your feedback and support as we move forward. Earlier this year, we began our strategic planning process, and the report has been delivered to council. Now, as we wrap up our 20-year community strategic plan, we await your final thoughts, and comments to make this vision a reality. Please comment about the strategic plan here: https://www.connectpenetanguishene.ca/strategic-plan

As well, our 2024 Budget Survey is open until September 11. To complete the survey online, visit: https://www.connectpenetanguishene.ca/2024-budget-process-2

Paper submission copies for the Strategic Plan and Budget Survey are available at all Town facilities.

It is through the power of community collaboration and unity that we can create a bright future for Penetanguishene. Together, let's continue to build a vibrant and thriving place we are all proud to call home.
