Flags Lowered at Town Hall in Honour of Dr. Andrea “Andi” Jones

The Town of Penetanguishene is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Andrea (Andi) Jones, a cherished community member, dedicated physician, and pillar of local sport. In her memory, Mayor Rawson has requested the flags at Town Hall to be lowered to half-mast.

Dr. Jones was not only a highly respected physician in the field of sports medicine, but also the heart and matriarch of Georgian Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy. Known for her compassion, leadership, and kindness, she touched the lives of countless residents, athletes, families, and colleagues.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Jones made extraordinary contributions to sport in our region and across the country. She served as team physician and head trainer for numerous organizations, including:

  • Hockey Canada’s U-18 National Women’s Program
  • National Ball Hockey Association Senior and Junior Programs
  • Penetang Kings Junior C Hockey Team
  • Penetang Minor Hockey
  • North Simcoe Girls Hockey Association
  • Numerous other local and provincial sporting groups

“Dr. Jones was a remarkable individual whose contributions to our community will be remembered for generations,” said Mayor Rawson. “Her commitment to helping others, especially our young athletes, embodied the very best of community spirit. On behalf of the Town, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Jones and Scanlan families.”

The Town of Penetanguishene joins her family, friends, colleagues, players, and the wider sports community in mourning this profound loss.
