Council Highlights - October 2, 2019

Council Highlights provide a brief overview of noteworthy decisions and presentations made at Town of Penetanguishene Council meetings. Detailed agendas and minutes from the meetings are available on our website or you can view our livestream for additional details. Meetings take place the second and fourth Wednesday of each month unless otherwise noted.​

Special Committee of the Whole – Budget (items that were discussed to be ratified at Council’s next meeting):

  • Committee received a presentation from Severn Sound Environmental Association regarding a request for funding;
  • Committee received a presentation from the Culture Alliance in the Heart of Georgian Bay regarding a request for funding;
  • Committee received a report from the Treasurer regarding requests for community grants.  A motion to include support for Big Brothers Big Sisters North Simcoe, Georgian Bay General Hospital, and Community Reach in the next 2020 Budget Draft was approved.
  • Committee received reports related to staffing requests for a Communications & Strategy Specialist, an Information & Technology Specialist, an Active Transportation Coordinator, a Water Operator In Training, and a Roads Equipment Operator.  All five positions were approved to remain in the 2020 Budget Draft for further consideration.
  • Committee reviewed the 2020 Budget Draft documents with the Treasurer and passed a motion to include $10,000 for Culture Alliance in the 2020 Budget Draft for further consideration.
