Council Highlights - February 13, 2019

Council Highlights provide a brief overview of noteworthy decisions and presentations made at Town of Penetanguishene Council meetings. Detailed agendas and minutes from the meetings are available on our website or you can view our livestream for additional details. Meetings take place the second and fourth Wednesday of each month unless otherwise noted.​  Links to individual meeting agendas are provided below.

Council:

  • Council received presentations from Waypoint Centre for Mental Health and Culture North Simcoe.
  • Council approved Advisory Committee appointments for the newly created Museum & Heritage Advisory Committee, Committee of Adjustment, Library Board as well as the Main Street Art Project Ad Hoc Committee.
  • Council approved staff proceeding with issuing a Request for Proposals to develop a Community Based Strategic Plan.
  • Council passed three by-laws including entering into an agreement with the City of Barrie for Fire Emergency Dispatch, an agreement with Southern Georgian Bay Farmers Market, and for the receiving of Gas Tax funds related to Transit.

Committee of the Whole (items that were discussed to be ratified at the next Council meeting)

  • Committee received presentations from Community REACH and Huronia Transition Homes.
  • Committee reviewed and approved the Water & Wastewater Utility Rate Study Update including a presentation from BMA Consulting.
  • Committee approved the 5-year preventative road maintenance plan.
  • Committee approved a fee-waiver request from the Sports Hall of Fame for a community support fundraising activity.
  • Committee approved an agreement with Huronia Animal Control for two years.
  • The CAO provided an update to Council regarding the upcoming Regional Government Review.
  • Committee approved an extension of the Information Technology Agreement with Compu-SOLVE.
  • Committee approved the Respect in the Workplace Policy and the Administration of Policy/Procedures Policy.
  • Committee approved the proposed Service Delivery Road Map.
  • Committee accepted the accessibility report for the 2018 Municipal Election.
  • Committee deferred the Pay Equity and Compensation Review to the February 20, 2019 Special Committee of the Whole meeting.

Special Council:

  • Council went in-camera (confidential/closed session) to discuss the Philip H. Jones PCP Upgrades Litigation and the Service Delivery Review Road Map.
  • Council approved proceeding with the minutes of settlement for the Phillip H. Jones PCP Upgrades Litigation as per the advice of the solicitor.
  • Council approved the in-camera items for the proposed Service Delivery Review Road Map.
  • Council deferred the Pay Equity and Compensation Review item to the February 20, 2019 Special Committee of the Whole meeting.
