Council Highlights (Budget) - February 6, 2019
Special Committee of the Whole (items that were discussed to be ratified at Council’s next meeting):
- The Director of Finance/Treasurer provided an overview of the proposed Budget for 2019.
- Committee discussed the Capital Budget items for 2019 and 2020 with the following items being removed from the Capital Budget:
- 2019 H-895 Secondary Plan Town Dock.
- 2019 M-946 Joint Building Permit Fee Study.
- 2019 M-892 Pedestrian Crossing on Robert St W.
- 2019 M-924 Rotary Champlain Wendat Park Gateways Design.
- 2020 M-106 Sidewalk Installation McGuire Road.
- 2019 M-953 Town Gateway Engineering and Design was deferred to the 2020 Capital Budget
- Committee approved additional funding requests from the Penetanguishene Public Library and Severn Sound Environmental Association in the amount of $32,130.
- Committee approved that the additional Current Value Assessment growth of $265,000 be included in the 2019 Budget, with an allocation report to follow.
The changes mentioned above result in an overall municipal tax impact of 1.4% for Operating, Capital, Debt Repayment and OPP. The 2019 Final Draft Budget will be presented to Committee for a recommendation to Council to adopt.
