Council Highlights - April 10, 2019

Council

  • Council ratified the decisions from the Committee of the Whole meetings of March 27, 2019.
  • Council passed 5 by-laws including amending the zoning for 45 Edward Street for the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre, entering into an encroachment agreement with 19 Robert St. W, updated procedural manual for Council/Committees, an update to the Traffic/Parking by-law, and the agreement with the Town of Midland for the Fire Chief shared services.

Committee of the Whole (items that were discussed to be ratified at Council’s next meeting):

  • Committee received a presentation from Hemson Consulting regarding Development Charges project and moving ahead with an updated Background Study and Public Meeting.
  • Committee approved a 3-year maintenance agreement with Eramosa Engineering Inc. for the Water and Wastewater Division.
  • Committee approved the initial acceptance of remaining storm sewer works for Harbour Pointe Subdivision, Phase 2.
  • Committee approved the participation in the Joint Cultural Committee as requested by Culture North Simcoe for a trial period of 1 year and appointed Deputy Dubeau to participate on Council’s behalf.
  • Committee approved the transition of the Ecology Garden operations from Karma Project back to the Town who will work to identify new partnerships in consultation with the Community Wellbeing Committee.  Individuals interested in renting can plots can do so at Town Hall for the cost of $25/plot.
  • Committee approved the draft agreement with Argee Boat Cruises Limited related to the Georgian Queen’s location at the Town Dock.
  • Committee received a presentation by Victoria Ervick of Sustainable Severn Sound and recommended approval of a 5% and 25% reduction target on Greenhouse Gas emissions for the community and corporation respectively and recommended approval of Penetanguishene’s Climate Change Action Plan in accordance with the Partners for Climate Protection Program.
  • Committee approved the 2018 reserves and reserve funds schedule.
