The Town of Penetanguishene recognizes August 1st as Penetanguishene Day

Penetanguishene, ON - The Town of Penetanguishene is proud to announce the celebration of its first "Penetanguishene Day" on August 1, 2023. Penetanguishene Day was proclaimed by Council in the June 14, 2023, meeting as part of the town’s efforts to promote and celebrate its rich history and vibrant community and to support the creation of a provincially designated "Penetanguishene Day" involving an annual acknowledgement of the Town’s heritage and legacy. 

“Penetanguishene Day is an opportunity for us to showcase all that our town has to offer – from the beautiful shoreline of Georgian Bay to our rich history, diverse cultures, and traditions,” said Mayor Doug Rawson. “It’s a day for our residents to be proud of their community and for visitors to discover what makes Penetanguishene such a special place.” 

Members of the community are encouraged to take time today to celebrate our community and all the amazing things it offers, including our magnificent parks, green spaces and trails. The local Penetanguishene Centennial Museum & Archives, and Penetanguishene Library stand as pillars of knowledge, offering a glimpse into the town's captivating heritage and serve as great resources to learn something about our history, land and people.

Meetings of Penetanguishene council are held on the second Wednesday of each month, and can be watched live on Rogers TV cable 53, on the Rogers TV website, or streamed live on the Town of Penetanguishene YouTube channel.
