The Penetanguishene Centennial Museum & Archives offers a wide range of events, exhibits, and programs throughout the year. Some activities require registration, while others are free of charge or included with admission. We encourage you to check our website regularly, as event listings are updated year-round.

 

2026 Events & Exhibits

Museum Tots Program

  • Date: June 10th & 24th, July 8th & 22nd, August 12th & 26th
  • Time: 10:30 AM to 11:20 AM
  • Come on a different themed adventure every session with crafts, games, sensory play and more fun!
  • $5 per child (2-4 years of age)
  • Pre-registration is required.

The British Home Children: Canada's Forgotten Legacy

  • Date: Saturday, May 23rd
  • Timeslots: 10AM to 12PM
  • Join the President of Home Children Canada, Lori Oschefski, for a powerful talk about this part of our history.
  • Free for members or admission by donation ($) for non-members.

Introduction to Beading

  • Date: Saturday, June 6th
  • Timeslots: 1PM to 3:30PM
  • Join Noopimiing Creations for this beginners workshop and create a beaded pin. All supplies included.
  • $30 per person
  • Registration is required.

Rotary Champlain Wendat Park Walking Tour

  • Date: June 24th or August 13th
  • Timeslots: 6PM
  • Take a walk in the park and learn about the Indigenous and Franco-Ontarian history of our area.
  • $7 per person, 12 and under are free
  • Registration is required.

Downtown Historical Walking Tours

  • Date: May 14th or July 23rd
  • Timeslots: 6PM
  • Take a walk downtown Penetanguishene and learn about the history of local homes and businesses.
  • $7 per person, 12 and under are free
  • Registration is required.

Canada Day at the Museum

  • Date: Wednesday, July 1, 2026
  • Timeslots: 11AM to 6PM
  • Join us for Canada Day celebrations at the Penetanguishene Museum. Music, BBQ, Inflatables, Face painting, entertainment & more!
  • Mario and Luigi characters at 1PM-2PM, Bluey and Bingo 3PM-4PM, and FREE cupcakes at 2PM
  • Free Admission

Family Fun Days

  • Date: June 29th to August 29th
  • Timeslots: 10AM to 4PM
  • Drop-in to the museum during the summer for a themed craft and scavenger hunt each week.
  • Admission by Donation ($)

Make and Take Wednesdays

  • Date: July 15th & 29th, August 12th & 26th
  • Timeslots: 2PM to 3:30PM
  • Join us to make and take a fun historical item and learn about the lives of the past! Each week will be a different theme including butter, soap, yarn dolls, and candles
  • $10 per child,
  • Ages 5+
  • Registration is required.

Summer Tea & Tarts

  • Date: Friday, August 14th
  • Timeslots: 1PM to 2:30PM
  • Join us for a relaxed gathering to enjoy delicious tea, sweet treats and conversation. Meet a local spinner and try your hand at this historic art form!
  • $15 per person
  • Registration is required.

Soapmaking Workshop

  • Date: Tuesday, August 18th
  • Timeslots: 1PM to 3PM
  • Get creative with The Rustic Tub for a beginners melt and pour soapmaking workshop. All supplies included.
  • $30 per person
  • Registration is required.
