Events & Exhibits

The Town of Penetanguishene offers a few different options when it comes to beaches for enjoying the warm weather. Rotary Champlain Wendat Park and Huronia Park all offer sandy beaches, great swimming areas along with other amenities including playgrounds, pavilions, washrooms and much more. Accessible by foot or by car these beaches are a great way to spend a sunny afternoon.

Wampum Belts Woven Through Anishinaabe History Presentation

  • Date: Wednesday, September 18th
  • Time: 6:30PM to 8:30PM
  • Presented by Brian Charles
  • In collaboration with the Culture Alliance in the Heart of Georgian Bay's Indigenous Art & Culture Awareness Week
  • Pre-registration is required.

Downtown Historical Walking Tours

  • Date: September 26th, October 17th
  • Time: 10:30AM to 12:00PM
  • Take a walk downtown Penetanguishene and learn about the history of the homes and business'. Includes special guest appearances from costumed interpreters.
  • $7 per adult, children under 12 are FREE
  • Pre-registration is required.

Rotary Champlain Wendat Walking Tour

  • Date: September 12th, October 3rd
  • Time: 10:30AM to 12:00PM
  • Take a walk in the park with an experienced guide and learn about the Indigenous and Franco-Ontarian history in our area.
  • $7 per adult, children under 12 are FREE
  • $7 per person, children under 12 are FREE
  • Registration is required.

The Gifts of Georgian Bay: A Métis Celebration and Appreciation for the Waves & Earth art show

  • Date: June 21st to September 5th
  • Organized by the Penetanguishene Centennial Museum and Laura-Lee Bellehumeur Kearns, Professor at Saint Francis Xavier University and member of the Métis Nation of Ontario.

Museum Tots Program

  • Parents and Tots come on adventure with us during our Museum Tots program as we experience our senses through play, crafts, and activities this Fall!
  • Adult Supervision required
  • $5 per child (2-4 years old)

Meet the Spirits

  • Date: Friday, October 18th
  • Times: 6:30 PM, 7 PM, 7:30 PM
  • Tour the St. James on the Lines Cemetery to encounter the many spirits of Penetanguishene and discover the significant history of the church!
  • $10 per person
  • Registration is required.

Halloween Spooktacular

  • Date: Saturday, October 26th
  • Timeslots from 10 AM to 12:00 PM
  • Halloween fun at the Museum including scavenger hunt, trick or treating, crafts, face painting & more!
  • Adult Supervision required
  • $6 per child (parents are free)
  • Registration required.

Paint Afternoon at the Museum

  • Date: Tuesday, November 5th
  • Time: 1PM to 4PM
  • $40 per person
  • Paint the afternoon away with Lori Ewert (Paint Nights by Lori).
  • All supplies included, Beginner Level
  • Painting will be Winter themed.
  • Registration required.

Fun with Santa

  • Date: December 14th
  • Timeslots: 9:30 AM to 12PM
  • Meet Mr. and Mrs. Claus, decorate cookies, create a craft and more!
  • $6 per child
  • Pre-registration is required.
