Events & Exhibits

The Town of Penetanguishene offers a few different options when it comes to beaches for enjoying the warm weather. Rotary Champlain Wendat Park and Huronia Park all offer sandy beaches, great swimming areas along with other amenities including playgrounds, pavilions, washrooms and much more. Accessible by foot or by car these beaches are a great way to spend a sunny afternoon.

Tapestry of Voices: Celebrating Canada's Languages exhibit

  • Date: June 20 to August 28th
  • Exploring Canada’s rich linguistic landscape, including over 60 aboriginal languages, Canada’s two official language (English and French), and more than 100 languages that immigrants have brought to our shores. Exhibit included in price of Admission.

Canada Day at the Museum

  • Date: Tuesday, July 1st
  • Time: 11:00AM to 6:00PM
  • Join us for Canada Day celebrations at the Penetanguishene Museum. Music, BBQ, Inflatables, Face painting, entertainment & more!
  • Free Admission

Family Fun Days

  • Dates: July & August
  • Time: 10AM to 4PM
  • Drop-in to the museum during the summer for a themed craft and scavenger hunt each week.
  • Admission by Donation ($)

Make & Take Wednesdays

  • Dates: July 9th and 23rd, August 6th and 20th
  • Time: 10:30 AM to 12PM
  • Travel back in time with us! Running every other Wednesday in the summer, join us to make and take a fun historical item and learn about the lives of the past! Each week will be a different theme (soap, butter, toys, and candles).
  • For Ages 5 - 12 years
  • $10 per child
  • Pre-registration is required.

Museum Tots: Summer Fun

  • Dates: Wednesday, July 16th and August 13th
  • Time: 10:30 AM to 11:20 AM
  • Parents and Tots come on adventure with us as we experience our senses through play, crafts, and activities with a Summer fun theme.
  • $5 per child (2-4 years old)
  • Pre-registration is required.

Artifact Talk: General Stores and Every Day Life in the late 1800s

  • Date: Tuesday, July 8th
  • Time: 2:00PM
  • One hour interactive presentation discussing general store artifacts with Museum Curator.
  • Free Admission

Métis Cultural Workshops

  • Wednesday, July 23rd: Dot Art Workshop
  • Thursday, July 31st: Beading Workshop
  • Time: 2PM
  • Hosted by the Métis Nation of Ontario Youth Program
  • FREE Admission, including supplies
  • Registration Required.

Downtown Historical Walking Tours

  • Date: Thursday, July 24th
  • Time: 6PM
  • Take a walk downtown Penetanguishene and learn about the history of the homes and businesses.
  • $7 per person (12 years and under are free)
  • Pre-registration is required.

Rotary Champlain Wendat Walking Tour

  • Date: Tuesday, August 26th
  • Time: 6PM
  • Take a walk in the park with an experienced guide and learn about the Indigenous and Franco-Ontarian history in our area.
  • $7 per person (12 years and under are free)
  • Pre-registration is required.
