Events & Exhibits
The Town of Penetanguishene offers a few different options when it comes to beaches for enjoying the warm weather. Rotary Champlain Wendat Park and Huronia Park all offer sandy beaches, great swimming areas along with other amenities including playgrounds, pavilions, washrooms and much more. Accessible by foot or by car these beaches are a great way to spend a sunny afternoon.
2024 Events
Spring Museum Tots Program
- Date: Wednesday April 24 to June 12th, 2024
- Time: 10:30AM
- Parents and Tots come on us as we experience our senses through play, crafts, and activities.
- $5 per child
- Recommended for children 2 to 4 years of age.
- Registration required.
May is Museum Month Museum Tour
- Date: Thursday, May 16, 2024
- Time: 2:00PM
- Celebrate May is Museum month with a guided museum tour led with a in depth talk about the museum’s history and tour through the research room.
- Admission is FREE
Downtown Historical Walking Tours
- Date: May 30, June 27, or July 25
- Time: 6:00 PM to 7:30PM
- Take a walk downtown Penetanguishene and learn about the history of the homes and business'. Includes special guest appearances from costumed interpreters.
- $7 per adult, children under 12 are FREE
- Pre-registration is required.
Rotary Champlain Wendat Walking Tour
- Date: May 2, June 13, July 11, or August 15
- Time: 6:00 PM to 7:30PM
- Take a walk in the park with an experienced guide and learn about the Indigenous and Franco-Ontarian history in our area.
- $7 per adult, children under 12 are FREE
- $7 per person, children under 12 are FREE
- Registration is required.
Tea & Tarts
- Date: Thursday, May 23
- Time: 2:00PM
- Enjoy an afternoon of tea and tarts at the museum with live music by Adrien Robitaille.
- $15 per person
- Registration required.
Craft Creations P.A. Day Fun
- Date: Friday, June 7th
- Time: 10:00AM to 2:00PM
- Crafty kiddos drop in to create a fun craft, play "I Spy" and explore the museum.
- Adult Supervision required
- Admission by donation ($)
Yes You Can Hand Drum Workshop
- Date: Tuesday, June 11th
- Time: 1:00PM to 2:30PM
- Join Deb Brown for this joyful and uplifting exploration of rhythm. No drumming experience is necessary to enjoy this workshop.
- Recommended for Adults and Seniors only
- $12 per person
- Pre-registration is required
The Gifts of Georgian Bay: A Métis Celebration and Appreciation for the Waves & Earth art show
- Date: June 21st to September 5th
- Organized by the Penetanguishene Centennial Museum and Laura-Lee Bellehumeur Kearns, Professor at Saint Francis Xavier University and member of the Métis Nation of Ontario.
- Due Dates for Submissions: June 15th, 17th and 18th, 2024
Canada Day at the Museum

Family Fun Days

- Drop-in to the museum during summer for themed craft and activity each week

Summer Kick-Off with Science North
- Date: Tuesday, July 9th
- Time: 3:00PM to 6:00PM
- Interactive Exhibit from Science North on Imagineering
- Sponsored by the Friends of the Museum

Make & Take Wednesdays
- Dates: July 10, July 24, August 7, August 21
- Time: 10:30AM to 12:00PM
- Travel back in time and make and take a fun historical item and learn about the lives of the past.
- Each week will be a different theme (soap, butter, paper, and candles).
- Recommended for ages 5-12 years
- Guardians are not required to attend.
- $10 per child
- Pre-registration is required.
