Swimming Spring 2019

The Town of Penetanguishene offers a 10-week Swimming and Aquatic Program in the SPRING (March), FALL (September) and WINTER (January) seasons -- NO swimming/aquatic programs take place in the summer months.

Registration for Spring 2019 Programs will open:

Monday, March 4th at 8:30 AM.



  1. In person at Town Hall with Registration Form and payment (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm)
  2. Email Registration Form (with credit card information filled out-VISA DEBIT is NOT accepted via Email) to recreation@penetanguishene.ca
  3. Mail Registration Form (with Visa/MasterCard information filled out or enclosed cheque)

  4. After hours drop box at main entrance Town Hall (sealed envelope with registration form and payment)
  5. You will be registered for your first class choice unlesss otherwise notifited by staff


Please note that in the past we have had a line-up prior to the doors opening at Town Hall for customers wanting to register, particularly for Private Swimming Lessons spots.   All programs have limited spaces available and spots are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis, with those who arrive in person to register are served first, and staff will process any registrations submitted by email/fax as soon as time permits that same day.

Please note that each Swim Level is expected to take one year to learn the skills and progress on to the next level.  Instructors will not pass participants in to the next level until they feel they are qualified to move on.

All Town of Penetanguishene swimming particpants will receive a complimentary parking permit that is to be picked up at Town Hall, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, PRIOR to the start of swimming lessons.  The permit is valid for Parking Lot C and must be displayed on rear-view mirror at all times to avoid parking tickets under the By-Law, otherwise park in a Visitor parking space.  The Town will not be responsible for any parking tickets.

  • Our programs are open to residents from all surrounding communities.
  • Our classes have limited spots available, and spaces are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis, so register early to avoid disappointment.
  • Programming is subject to last minute modifications/revisions and cancellations according to operational needs and registrations.
  • Approved refund requests/withdrawals will be refunded based on the program fees paid, minus a $10.00 administrative fee per person, per program. All refunds will be prorated on the percentage of the course remaining at the time of the withdrawal request, which must be submitted in writing, by mail, fax, email or in person.  Refund requests will not be approved if less than 50% of the session dates remain.
  • We strive to serve as many community members as possible; therefore we have very few private lessons available

  • Individuals with special needs will be accommodated whenever possible.  Should you have any questions regarding inclusion, or have suggestions about specific classes for special needs/abilities, please contact the Recreation & Events Coordinator.


All programs and classes are hosted at facilities that are fully accessible.

Town Access to Affordable Recreation Policy


  • The Town of Penetanguishene offers a limited SUBSIDY PROGRAM for recreation registrations for all ages, including youth, adults and seniors, applicable only to those residing in Penetanguishene.  Besides Town-run programs, we also approve registrations from Penetanguishene Minor Hockey Association, Penetanguishene Skating Club, North Simcoe Girls Hockey Association for subsidy (Penetanguishene Residents).  Eligibility for this program is managed by We Are The Villagers; please contact the organization directly for subsidy information.    Toll free: 1-855-528-5252     http://watvnew.com/
