Building and Enforcement Services

The Building and By-law Enforcement function is to ensure public health and safety through the enforcement of provisions under the Building Code Act and Ontario Building Code.

The use of Building Permits allows municipalities to regulate the types of construction in the community and ensure that proper building standards are met. The enforcement of building codes serves to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public.

The By-law Enforcement function is to ensure public health and safety through the enforcement of several Municipal By-laws.

By-laws including Zoning, Discharge of Firearms, Burning, Property Standards, Parking, and Noise are enforced by this department.

If you work in construction, the rules for mandatory WSIB coverage have changed. Do you run your own construction business? Are you the purchaser of construction services? Big or small, with workers or without, you still need to know what's changed. Find out what it means for you.
