2017 INTERIM TAX BILLS

Interim Tax Bills were mailed the week of July 4th, 2017.  The installment due dates are:

  • MONDAY July 31, 2017
  • FRIDAY September 29, 2017

Payments are due on or before the above due dates.  Penalty will be applied on any unpaid or outstanding taxes on the day following the due dates.  For electronic or bank payments, please allow up 3 to 5 business days for your bank to process your payment.

**PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU ARE PARTICIPATING IN THE MONTHLY PRE-AUTHORIZED PAYMENT PLAN, WITHDRAWALS WILL NOW BE SENT TO THE BANK FOR THE LAST BUSINESS DAY OF EACH MONTH**. THIS HAS CHANGED FROM THE LAST DAY OF THE MONTH.

If you do not receive your Tax Bill, please call the Town office at 705-549-7453.  Failure to receive a Tax Bill does not relieve the Taxpayer from the responsibility for payment of Taxes and any accrued penalties or interest.

Tax Certificates

Tax certificates are $45 or $60 for a 48 hour rush certificate.

Please note that the tax rates are approved by Council about the end of April each year and the current year's tax rates are posted at that time. Before this time, for estimate purposes only, you may use the previous year's tax rates.

Changing Your Mailing Address

If your mailing address has changed recently, please contact the Finance Department in writing. Staff will revise the mailing address and send a copy of the change to the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC)

Requesting a Property Tax Receipt or a Tax bill reprint.

If you require a Property Tax receipt a $10.00 charge will apply. A Tax bill reprint will cost $10.00 and a Tax inquiry (for archived years) will cost $30.00.

2016 Assessment Notices

The Municpial Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) is responsible for accessing and classifying more than 5 millions properties in Ontario and mails out the Property Assessment Notice every four years.  The Notice you received in 2016 is MPAC's assessed value of your property as of January 1, 2016 and any increased assessed value between January 1, 2012 and January 1, 2016 will be phased over 2017 to 2020.  If you feel that your current assessed value of your property is incorrect please contact MPAC and complete a Request for Reconsideration form (RFR).  The deadline to file and RFR with MPAC is included on your notice. 

Application for Direction of School Support

In order to change the school support designation on the assessment roll, an application for Direction of School Support must be filled out and sent to the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) Central Processing Facility.  Please note that the request can take up to three months before changes are made to the account.
